30 Nov 2009 Saying goodbye
 |  Category: My Thoughts, Quotes of the day  | Leave a Comment

A part of life that is never easy is saying good bye to a loved one and friend. Today many team members from PriceSmart and Save-on-Foods said good bye to an honorary team member. Our friend, our angel. Marie was an incredible lady who devoted her life to being a good person and thinking of others first. Her celebration of life was a beautiful remembrance of her. I was glad to know her.

You always hope that we learn something from  the moments that we live.  Life isn’t a journey to be wasted it is a journey to be appreciated. Have fun, love, laugh, enjoy the moments we have been given. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Try not to stress. Learn from your mistakes. Be thankful. Say sorry. Cry when you need to. You always hear me use expressive words and you will always see me smile even when life’s bad. I do this because I want to be an example of how we can treasure each day, each moment.

Quote of the day:

” What matters is that you’ve loved; not because of the things that influenced you but that you’ve loved because it comes from your heart and it’s true.”

27 Nov 2009 Our Vegas trip
 |  Category: My Thoughts  | Leave a Comment

Well it started out great and ended with a bang of fun. We had a very relaxing and laughter filled weekend. There was so much to see. I enjoyed the site seeing, the lights, the shows and the hotel. Vegas reminds me of Disneyland a happy place…lol…only not so innocent. Truth be told if you are not interested in the sinful areas you really can have a more innocent time. We did. We loved MGM Grand and would recommend it to anyone. The service was great and everyone was so polite. We loved their Grand Buffet. There as so much to eat I couldn’t even hope to sample all of it. The other Buffet we loved was at the Golden Nugget on Freemont street. The prime rib was amazing. Phantom Las Vegas was terrific but I must admit seeing comedian Gordie Brown was a rocking good time. We would go to Vegas again and even being home less then 24 hours have heard of more things to see and do. So maybe in a few years.

Here a few snapshots of the weekend

20 Nov 2009 We’re Here!!

Hey everyone. We are here! I can not believe it. It is amazing. The lights, the architecture, the never sleeps….wow. We got in and though the suitcase in the room and headed for the Strip. We checked out where things were close to us and went and had our celebration dinner and drinks at the Outback Steak House. Mai Tai’s were awesome, the waitress was funny, and dinner very good. We then killed some more time near their before seeing the premier of New Moon. I could have done without that tonight(so disappointing) but Niki is happy. Today is supposed to be 20 degrees and the sun is shining so the plan is to check out pool area here at MGM Grand and then head to the strip for some sight seeing after lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.

On tonight’s agenda we have tickets to Gordie Brown at the Golden Nugget Hotel on Freemont Street so we will be hanging around down there for a bit. We have the early show so we may even hit some free shows along the strip on the way back tonight.

Well that’s all for now…HI to my wonderful kids and all the family!

04 Nov 2009 Another reminder just how thankful we are…

It was 3 years ago today that we got the phone call at 3 am from Duane, my brother. He was in the hospital and truthfully in shock. He had been walking to a local 7-eleven in Vancouver to grab a bag of Doritos’s and catch a cab after the wedding he had been to. So drunk guys where bothering some girls and Duane told them to move on or such…he then was jumped from behind and kicked in the head and finally thrown through the plate glass windows of the 7-eleven by these 4 drunks.  Duane has gone through a long recovery and several surgeries. I don’t think you are ever the same after something like this, I don’t think any of us are. Duane looks amazing now. He is lucky to be alive as the bones under his eyes where shattered and those could have killed him had they shattered differently. The police where not able to catch the guys that did this and that is the unjust of the story. Would Duane have spoken up again if in the same situation….yes or some girls could have been raped. It just would be nice if things would have worked out differently.

We are so thankful Duane is alive and well and now back in his home town Chilliwack. Love you Duane.
